Transworld signs Karen Swan in major new deal

Author Karen Swan has signed a major new deal with Transworld, moving from Pan Macmillan.

Editorial director Sally Williamson acquired world English language rights from Amanda Preston at LBA for six books, bringing Swan to the Bantam Fiction list with "ambitious plans" for her future publishing. Her first book with Transworld will publish in hardback in March 2026.

"After almost fifteen happy years at Pan it was time for a change, but their vision and expertise shaped my books into consistent best-sellers and I leave with the greatest gratitude and respect to the entire team there," Swan said. "I love my job and push myself every day to be better and I know that under Sally and Kim’s steer, a really exciting new chapter awaits. I can’t wait to get started."

Williamson commented: "To say I’m thrilled to welcome Karen to Transworld is an understatement. Having long been a fan of her evocative, transportive and page-turning books, it’s an enormous privilege—and a bit of a pinch-me moment—to be her new publisher."

Kimberley Young, managing director for Transworld, added: "I have been entranced by Karen’s storytelling for many years now. It can be no surprise to anyone that she has such a legion of devoted readers all around the world. To have her join the powerhouse that is Transworld’s commercial fiction roster at this exciting time in our new chapter is, as you’d expect from such a skilful storyteller, just perfect timing. We couldn’t be more excited."
