Penguin snap up Anam Iqbal's YA contemporary debut in a three-way auction!

The Exes by British Pakistani author Anam Iqbal, a stunning YA debut about family, fame and first love with a British South Asian twist, was acquired by India Chambers, Editor, with UK and Commonwealth Rights in a three-way auction from Hannah Schofield of LBA. In The Exes, sparks fly between an unlikely pair – Karim, a globally-renowned influencer, and Zara, a normal London teen. They try to keep their budding relationship under the radar, but it’s hard to keep secrets when an anonymous gossip blogger has their eye on you. Can the couple unmask their tormentor and get their happily ever after, or does fate have other plans for them?

Anam Iqbal is a debut author and her writing is inspired by her experiences growing up as a British Pakistani Muslim woman in London. She holds an MSc in Social Anthropology from the University of Oxford, where her thesis explored the identity of British South Asians in contemporary London. In her spare time, you can find her swooning over romances on TikTok @anamiiqbal with her 42,000+ followers.
