Pan Macmillan has signed The Matcha Maker Café by Lily Chen, with assistant editor Ellah Mwale acquiring world rights in all languages from Hannah Schofield. The novel is a a sweet, small-town slow-burn romance set in a charming matcha café. It follows Sasha Lee, a star matchmaker who helps customers find love over a smooth cup of matcha - but in her own life, she's allergic to commitment. With a growing reputation, her successes are challenged when the ‘unmatchable’ Ben walks in - a man who believes he’s too boring for love. As Sasha tries to match him, she slowly finds herself drawn to his quiet charm. As their daily banter becomes the highlight of her day, Sasha must confront the possibility that her own love story might be brewing. Will she embrace the unexpected romance, or let her past fears keep her from true love?

Mwale called the book 'a truly charming story' with a diverse cast, while Schofield praised Chen’s 'glorious debut in cosy romance'. Chen said she loved writing a romance 'as scrumptious as the desserts' in her dream café. Read more here!
