Ben Miller signs six-book deal with S&S as his sales hit one million
Simon & Schuster Children’s Books have announced a new six book deal with bestselling author, Ben Miller, as his in-print sales surpass one million copies worldwide.
World English rights were acquired by Lucy Pearse, Fiction Publisher, from Luigi Bonomi at LBA in two Fairytale Diaries titles, continuing the bestselling series for 6+ readers that launched this March with Diary of a Big Bad Wolf, and two further standalone middle-grade novels for readers aged 8-12, which will see Ben’s children’s fiction publishing continue until 2028. The deal also includes World all Language rights in two picture books, the first of which will hit shelves in 2026.
Year-round marketing activity will focus on reaching new readers across the age ranges. The campaign is currently live for Ben’s tenth novel, Robin Hood Aged 10 ¾, out on 26th September including a pre-publication takeover of Sherwood Forest’s official Robin Hood festival, multiple broadcast interviews and events at Cheltenham and Bath Festivals. And Ben’s role as Chief Elf of the children’s book world will return this Christmas, with an unmissable festive campaign for Ben’s picture book debut, The Night I Met Father Christmas, illustrated by Elisa Paganelli.
Since publication of his first book for young readers in 2018, Miller’s fiction sales have now exceeded one million copies in the English language, his family-friendly magical storytelling consistently delights audiences with each new release hitting the top-ten fiction bestseller list. International growth has been spearheaded by multiple book of the month selections with major Australian retailer, QBD.
Ben Miller says: ’To have even more exciting new stories to work on for all ages is a dream come true and I am thrilled to have reached such a milestone with Simon & Schuster. I had the great pleasure of going to Australia earlier this year to meet booksellers and young readers, and to see families enjoying my books around the world is fantastic. There will be so much more magic, adventure and entertainment to come, and sometimes I have to pinch myself to believe that I spend my days conjuring these stories.’
Lucy Pearse Fiction Publisher says: ‘Ben Miller is a beloved and important author brand at Simon & Schuster Children’s Books, and a central part of our exciting growth plans. His dedication to quality storytelling and the magical worlds he conjures are the perfect accessible route to adventure for all the family and we have been so proud to see his fans grow around the world. I can’t wait to get started on more spellbinding, exuberant stories with Ben.’
